Situated in the heart of Gurugram, Haryana, EcoGram by Hyundai is HMIF’s sustainable answer for waste management concerns in metropolitan cities. The unit is an eco-friendly initiative in the form of a Biogas plant and Material Recovery Facility, saving considerable amount of waste from ending up in landfills. Operational since October 2022, the facility recycles waste to promote circular economy practices.

Process of Collecting and Recyclying Waste:
With the support of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), wet and dry waste is collected from 20 bulk waste generators comprising RWAs, corporate offices, and commercial complexes.
The collected waste is transported to the facility in co-ordination with concerned authorities and MCG empaneled agencies for further processing. The facility processes wet waste to produce Biogas, which is then used to produce electricity, and sorts dry waste which is then given to aggregators for recycling.

Key highlights of the facility:
 Since inception in October 2022, the facility has recycled over 11,15,370 kg waste
 Daily capacity of processing 2,000 kg of wet waste and 5,000 kg of dry waste
 The unit has contributed towards the reduction of over 1,44,000 kg CO2 emissions by curbing greenhouse gas emissions directly released from landfills
 The facility has the capacity to produce 200-kilowatt electricity per day
 The unit also consists of ‘Earth-Shala’ – an open-air theatre with display boards and a sitting area to host people visiting the model facility for dialogues
 Around 1087 visitors including school children, government departments, corporates, delegates from other countries have visited EcoGram for understanding sustainable waste management practices.
