Briefly tell us about the journey of Tembo Global Industries Limited so far.
Tembo Global Industries Limited, a prominent player in the industrial sector with expertise in engineering mechanics, design load calculations, drawings, specifications, manufacturing, supply, and project execution for sectors such as oil and gas, chemicals, construction, power, shipbuilding, nuclear power, HVAC, Anti-Vibration Systems, and various industrial, commercial, utility, and OEM installations. Renowned for its export-oriented operations and holding the prestigious Star Export House certification, the company also engages in trading metal products and textiles. Despite the challenging economic landscape, Tembo Global Industries has demonstrated robust performance, underscoring its resilience and strategic excellence in the market.

Tembo is a different but interesting name. What is the genesis of this name?
The name ‘Tembo’ originates from the Swahili language, where it means ‘elephant’. Elephants are known for their strength, intelligence, and social bonds, which are qualities that may resonate with the ethos or image that Tembo Global Industries wants to convey.
The name of company was initially changed from ‘Saketh Exim Limited’ to ‘Tembo Global Industries Limited’ in 2020 for a better global appeal. The choice of this name symbolizes attributes like power, wisdom, and global reach, aligning with the company’s branding or values.

Initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ have propelled Indian SMEs into the global arena with bigger opportunities of growth and progress. How has Tembo leveraged on these initiatives?

Tembo has focused on establishing or expanding manufacturing facilities within India, taking advantage of incentives and policies aimed at promoting domestic production. This not only supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative but also enhances operational efficiency and reduces costs.

You have recently ventured into the defence segment with a new entity called Tembo Defense Products Ltd. What motivated this move and what kind of products and technology will drive the business for this new company?
As part of its strategic integration, Tembo Global Industries Ltd. introduces Tembo Defense Products Ltd. This initiative is driven by increasing production demands and underscores Tembo’s commitment to aligning with the Make in India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) initiative. This move supports the country’s overarching objective of fostering self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The Indian government has signed 264 contracts for defence equipment procurement, with 159 contracts for armed forces equipment procurement.
The introduction not only demonstrates our company’s dedication to growth but also marks the beginning of a new era of innovation and excellence in project execution and diverse business ventures. Our company’s divisions are examples of our strategic vision and commitment to setting standards in their respective fields. This ground-breaking program demonstrates Tembo Global Industries Ltd.’s commitment to optimizing its organizational structure, improving operational effectiveness, and encouraging innovation throughout its businesses. With this division taking the stage, Tembo Defense Products Ltd., the company maintains its standing as a progressive leader in the sector, ready to meet any challenges that may arise and provide unparalleled value to its stakeholders.

What is Tembo’s turnover at present?
Tembo Global Industries Ltd’s turnover is ₹125.35 crore in the Q4 FY 2023-2024.

Tembo has recently acquired a land parcel of 3.32 acres in Vasai, near Mumbai. How are you planning to utilize the same?
Tembo Global Industries has recently procured a 3.32-acre land parcel in Vasai to significantly expand its manufacturing facility. The goal is to increase production capacity by 4-5 times compared to current capabilities, with the expansion project scheduled to be commissioned within the current financial year.
Given the land’s advantageous location and connectivity, Tembo Global Industries is actively exploring several development options. The company is considering establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing or logistics facility to enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, the possibility of developing commercial spaces, such as office buildings or retail centres, is being evaluated to address the growing demands in the region. Another option under consideration is a mixed-use development that combines residential, commercial, and recreational facilities, which would create a vibrant community space and add long-term value.

How important is digitalization to accomplish operational excellence and to achieve innovation for Tembo?
Digitalization is essential for Tembo Global Industries to achieve operational excellence and drive innovation. It streamlines processes and automates tasks, boosting efficiency and productivity while optimizing supply chains.
