Covestro (India) Private Limited and AIPMA’s AMTEC held a convocation ceremony on 12 June 2024, to celebrate the success of the students who completed their training under the project, “Upskilling Youth in the Plastic Industry”. This is a CSR project by Covestro (India) Private Limited, in collaboration with their implementation partner, the All India Plastic Manufacturers Association (AIPMA)’s Arvind Mehta Technology & Entrepreneurship Center (AMTEC).
This initiative by Covestro (India) underscores their commitment to promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities among youth. By partnering with the All India Plastic Manufacturers Association (AIPMA), Covestro (India) endeavours to create awareness about the plastic industry’s potential and provide a platform for aspiring individuals to build rewarding careers.
AIPMA is a 79-year-old association with nearly 22,000 members nationwide, recognized by the Chemical and Fertilisers Ministry & Department of Petrochemicals, Government of India. It joined forces with Covestro (India) to equip youth with necessary skills to excel in the plastic industry. AIPMA’s Arvind Mehta Technology & Entrepreneurship Center (AMTEC) serves as a hub for training and certification, endorsed by Government Initiatives such as Skill India – by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
It is recognized that there is a growing demand for skilled professionals in the plastic industry and Covestro (India) aims to address the same alongside empowering youth from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The project named as “Upskilling Youth in Plastic Industry,” focused on courses – 3D printing, Mould Product Design, and Tool which are certified by renowned institutions and knowledge partners like Siemens, Autodesk and 3D Systems.
The program, conducted between November 2023 and May 2024, trained 100 students for the plastic industry. Out of these, 22 students are pursuing higher education, 70 have secured placements in esteemed companies such as Jay Precision, SVP Packing India Pvt Ltd, ARMS For Bajaj Auto, Varroc Polymers, and Machine, among others, while eight students are in the process of securing jobs showcasing the ongoing positive outcome of the project.

To envision the future of this project, Covestro (India) aims to deepen its commitment to the areas of Skill Development, Employment, Youth Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Rural Development. This CSR initiative aligns closely with Covestro (India)’s objectives, which emphasize promoting education, including special education, and enhancing vocational skills, particularly among children, women, the elderly, differently abled individuals, and marginalized communities.
