“The success of our battery-swapping model lies in its ability to address the key challenges faced by EV users. By offering fast, two-minute swaps, we eliminate range anxiety and help drivers earn more. This, combined with the cost-effective nature of our service, has made EVs a more appealing choice for a wider range of consumers.” Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder and CEO, Battery Smart
Battery Smart, India’s largest battery swapping network for electric two-and three-wheelers, has recently completed 50 million battery swaps on its network. This achievement marks a first for the nation and underscores Battery Smart’s position as a dominant and trusted player in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
In under five years, Battery Smart has rapidly expanded its network to more than 1,400 swapping stations throughout India. By embracing a partner-led strategy that leverages existing infrastructure, Battery Smart not only accelerates its expansion but also supports local businesses, enhancing EV accessibility, especially in tier 1 to tier 3 regions where charging infrastructure is limited.
Commenting on this achievement, Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder and CEO of Battery Smart, said, “Achieving 50 million battery swaps is not just a milestone for us, it demonstrates our steadfast commitment to making EV adoption both accessible and affordable. The success of our battery-swapping model lies in its ability to address the key challenges faced by EV users. By offering fast, two-minute swaps, we eliminate range anxiety and help drivers earn more. This, combined with the cost-effective nature of our service, has made EVs a more appealing choice for a wider range of consumers. We’re grateful to our partners, customers, and the government for supporting battery swapping as India moves towards sustainable mobility.”
Battery smart eliminates the need for end users to own the battery, reducing upfront EV costs by as much as 40%. By subscribing to Battery Smart’s network, drivers get easy access to fully charged batteries on the go. Battery Smart’s female drivers, who make up 3-4 times the industry average, benefit significantly, enjoying greater financial independence and more employment opportunities in the growing EV sector.
As EV battery-swapping gains traction, the timing aligns perfectly with the PM E-DRIVE scheme to boost electric two- and three-wheeler adoption in India, complemented by the recent Ministry of Power guidelines for battery swapping that support a robust EV ecosystem.
